AlmaLinux Day: Vancouver

AlmaLinux Day: Vancouver is coming, and Hawk Host is an official sponsor! The first sponsor, in fact! (Yes, we’re bragging a little bit there)

Hawk Host is super happy to sponsor another AlmaLinux event. This time, it’s a one-day gathering hosted in the famed Canadian city of Vancouver. However, we’re still partial to our hometown of Toronto!

What is AlmaLinux Day: Vancouver?

In their own words, AlmaLinux Day: Vancouver “brings together artists, developers, and sysadmins working at the intersection of visual effects and open-source systems — with a special spotlight on AlmaLinux as a stable, community-driven platform powering modern production workflows.” What we appreciate most about these kinds of events is that they’re an excellent opportunity to meet some of your online friends and colleagues in person, and maybe learn a little something you may not have otherwise picked up sitting at home at your desk. You never know what inspiration or ideas may strike as you’re surrounded for the day with like-minded individuals.

And, as everyone knows, the best part of conventions and meetups is the swag. You’ll leave ALDV with at least one pen you didn’t have that morning!

In all seriousness, ALDV is a great opportunity to learn about AlmaLinux, become part of the AlmaLinux community, talk to the people responsible for running the show, and really get involved in a growing open-source community.

Why does Hawk Host support AlmaLinux?

Plenty of reasons! One of the most important reasons is that we here at Hawk Host run AlmaLinux, and it’s essential to contribute to the organization that helps, in part, to make our industry possible. Even if we weren’t active end users, open-source communities and operating systems are critically important to the modern Internet ecosystem. We want to be a tiny part of a considerable effort by a lot of highly talented individuals to ensure projects and communities like AlmaLinux exist and thrive. It’s also a pretty neat concept, and having watched AlmaLinux grow from its infancy to the community it is today, we’re going to continue fostering that growth in our small way.

Canada is a lovely place to visit in August, and Vancouver is a wonderful city to take in, especially in the company of your fellow AlmaLinux friends :)
