We're Adding More Semi-Dedicated Hosting Plans!

When Hawk Host first launched our semi-dedicated hosting plans, the idea was to create an upgrade path for shared hosting customers who needed some extra resources but did not want to host in a VPS or cloud compute environment. However, our customers’ average hosting needs have changed, and with that, we’re expanding our semi-dedicated hosting packages to include more options and higher resources!

As a basic introduction, Hawk Host’s semi-dedicated hosting plans are like shared hosting in that they’re a cPanel server, it is an environment where Hawk Host manages the underlying server and all software & hardware, and so your only responsibility as a customer is the management of your own individual websites, emails, or whatever services you’re running under the account. The primary benefit of using semi-dedicated hosting over standard shared hosting is that semi-dedicated hosting plans provide more resources and are perfect for higher traffic or higher usage sites and applications. We also have plenty of semi-dedicated customers who may not always need the extra resources but are willing to pay the extra price to ensure the resources are available whenever their site requires them. It provides a smooth upgrade path for shared hosting customers who may outgrow regular shared hosting, but are not interested in hosting and managing a cloud compute environment.

Previously, we offered two semi-dedicated hosting plans, the Nestling and Talon packages. The Nestling plan is sticking around and will continue to be our entry-level semi-dedicated package. The Talon plan will be retired in favor of three new packages. The Raptor, Stratos, and Apex plans are being introduced to give customers more flexibility when choosing a semi-dedicated plan, along with providing more resources to stay within a shared-type hosting environment. A cloud compute still has its wide range of benefits and can be more performant overall, even with fewer resources allocated, but a compute does place a lot of the management responsibility on you as the site owner. That can be a big task for someone unfamiliar with fully managing a Linux hosting environment, even with a control panel installed and Hawk Host support available.

All semi-dedicated plans include an outgoing email limit of 2,000 emails per hour, twice daily backups via Acronis to offsite storage, 50 concurrent MySQL connections, and our usual features of unlimited domains, unlimited email addresses, unlimited bandwidth, free SSL certificates for all sites, a free AI site builder, free enterprise malware defense, and much more! As you can see, each higher-tier plan offers more disk space, CPU, RAM, disk IO, higher process limits, the ability to use more inodes (store more files), and a dedicated IP with all plans except Nestling.

With how these plans are structured, you can upgrade or downgrade anytime without downtime or requiring a move to a new server. As a result, if you find your site hitting resource limits and need to solve the problem immediately, a few minutes to place an upgrade order through your client area is all you need to double, triple, or quadruple your existing resources!

This shakeup of our semi-dedicated hosting lineup does not impact existing customers. You can continue with your Nestling or Talon plans as long as you choose; we are not forcing anyone to change to the new packages. You can change at any time if you’d like, as perhaps one of the new Raptor, Stratos, or Apex plans better aligns with your resource requirements compared to Talon.
