We have a new feature to announce! It’s called Performance Boost, and, as you probably guessed, it’s a tool to boost the performance and resources of your hosting account! With the click of one button, you can add up to 8 CPUs, 10GB RAM, 300MB/sec IO, and 350 total processes to your hosting plan for 24 hours. We built the tool to help handle surges in traffic to your site, prepare for a new product launch, or maybe just see how your site would perform with more resources available. Whatever your case, when you need extra resources, Performance Boost is here to help!

Now, please keep in mind that this is a brand new feature for us, and we’re considering it production ready but in a “Beta” product status. You might see some bugs, the interface and approach might change over time, and it might disappear in a few months if we find major issues. However, we thought this was a really cool feature that many customers would want to use, so we’re excited to get it out there and have you all start Boosting!

So what does Boost do? Once enabled, Boost will increase your account’s CPU limit to 8 CPUs, RAM/memory quota to 10GB, disk IO to 300MB/sec, and the allowed process count to 350. Those are effectively the resources of a medium dedicated server, so your account and websites should be able to handle anything being thrown at them! This Boost period lasts for 24 hours, after which you’d be automatically reverted back to your paid plan’s resource limits. The current Boost cooldown period is 30 days, but we’re keeping a close watch on how Boost is used to determine if we’ll allow more Boosts per account in a 30-day period.

Once your Boost is processed, you can log in to cPanel and view the Resource Usage interface, or the right-hand side Statistics menu, to confirm that the new resources have been applied.

All cloud and shared web hosting plans are eligible for Boost, except the Max plan, as the Max plan already gives you the most resources we can provide in a shared hosting environment. If you want to Boost your account, our KB article What is the Performance Boost feature? will walk you through the steps. It takes less than 2 minutes to implement, and your plan will be upgraded immediately after you click the Boost button!

We’d really love to hear your feedback on the Performance Boost if you end up using it :)
