New cPanel Operating System Templates (AlmaLinux 10 & Ubuntu 24.04)

Our cPanel templates previously supported AlmaLinux 8, AlmaLinux 9, CloudLinux 8, and CloudLinux 9, but with the recent STABLE classification of cPanel v134, we’re now confident we can add cPanel support for both AlmaLinux 10 and Ubuntu 24.04.

cPanel added support for AlmaLinux 10 and Ubuntu 24.04 in v132, released in September 2025, which was not considered stable until January 2026. cPanel has since released v134 into its STABLE branch, and with v136 currently at release candidate status, we’re now confident that both AlmaLinux 10 and Ubuntu 24.04 will be reliable in a cPanel environment.

AlmaLinux 10

AlmaLinux 10 is the latest stable version of AlmaLinux, running Linux kernel 6.12. It contains support for the latest hardware and various performance improvements. Along with that, supporting newer versions of various software such as:

• PostgreSQL 16
• Perl 5.40
• Python 3.12
• Git 2.47

It’s an excellent choice if you’re deploying a new cPanel server and want the latest software and support well into 2030.

Ubuntu 24.04

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is no longer the latest Ubuntu LTS version, but it is currently the newest Ubuntu version supported by cPanel. If you’re more familiar with Ubuntu than AlmaLinux, then Ubuntu 24.04 with cPanel is a logical choice. Ubuntu 24.04 LTS ships with Kernel 6.8, which supports the latest hardware and includes various performance improvements. Ubuntu 24.04 LTS provides support for newer versions of software, such as:

• PostgreSQL 16
• Perl 5.38
• Python 3.12
• Git 2.43

If you’re looking for the latest version of Ubuntu 26.06 LTS, unfortunately, the support is not there yet; however, Ubuntu 26.06 is expected to arrive in Q2 2026, at which point our team will be sure to add it as an available option, as we now intend to not only provide AlmaLinux/CloudLinux cPanel operating system templates but also Ubuntu cPanel operating system templates.

Conclusion

We’re very excited to announce that we now support the latest cPanel versions of both AlmaLinux and Ubuntu. That said, it’s worth noting that all our operating system templates check for updates upon provisioning. Our cPanel templates perform a brand-new installation, ensuring you have the latest supported cPanel version and follow their latest recommendations. That means whether it’s AlmaLinux 10, Ubuntu 24.04, or even AlmaLinux 8, we make sure everything is fully up to date for that operating system and cPanel combination before you access your Cloud VPS for the first time.
