WordPress currently powers 43% of all active websites on the internet, and that number is similarly high at Hawk Host. WordPress, while originally primarily a blogging platform, has long since become the dominant content management system as well. That ecosystem, though, has continued to grow, and it now powers many storefronts with the help of WooCommerce. The extensive WordPress plugin and theme ecosystem has resulted in websites of all kinds being powered by WordPress. As a result of how popular WordPress is, there are now a variety of WordPress specific hosting and management services. What you may not be aware of is that Hawk Host provides many of these same services and features free of charge with all our web hosting accounts.
Hawk Host has evolved as websites have evolved, and to date, we continue to support a variety of PHP applications; we are not exclusively a WordPress web host. That said, if there is a popular application or feature, we aim to bring first-class support and features to all our web hosting plans. We are strong believers that you don’t need to purchase application-specific hosting for the vast majority of websites. We, of course, implement many optimizations that benefit all applications, including WordPress. We do, however, have a growing number of WordPress specific features to make the management of WordPress sites easy without breaking the bank. As our team has been actively updating our knowledge base, we thought it was a great time to bring a spotlight to both our WordPress specific features as well as features WordPress benefits from.
We allow you to clone/stage your WordPress website with just a few clicks. As long as you have enough space on your account, we allow you to create a clone/staging copy of your WordPress website. The system creates the subdomain, disables search engine indexing, and even lets you password-protect the installation.
Once you’ve completed your work on the cloned installation, you can copy the data into your live WordPress website. We allow you to pick and choose what pieces of information you wish to copy. That means you can install a new plugin/theme, configure it, then push it live without worrying about breaking your website.
We understand the hesitancy to update, but more than ever, it is advisable to update as soon as possible. Even though we make it easy to create a staging copy of your WordPress site, it may not be realistic to continually test WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates. In the WordPress Management interface, there is a concept of Smart Updates. Once enabled, anytime you update a theme or plugin, a cloned copy of your WordPress will be created and updated, and then a variety of tests will be performed to confirm there are no errors. You can combine this with automatic plugin and theme updates to update your WordPress faster than ever. Smart updates, of course, are no substitute for checking yourself, but for most sites that use the most popular plugins, updates can be applied without worry.
Hawk Host offers several ways to perform backups that are not WordPress specific. We offer the ability to take a full backup of your entire account. We also take daily backups, which you can restore using the Acronis interface in cPanel. We understand, though, that sometimes you need a quick, easy way to back up and restore your WordPress site. We allow you to take, restore, and download backups right inside our WordPress Management interface. It’s an excellent resource when you’re making changes, and you don’t necessarily want to use a staging environment.
Default WordPress installations are secure; however, there are several steps you can take to further improve security. We offer the ability to complete a variety of recommended security improvements without having any expert knowledge. The whole process is handled through our WordPress Management interface. Hawk Host also provides additional security by utilizing Imunify360. Imunify360 provides a web application firewall to protect against attempted exploits. Imunify360 provides both proactive defense by terminating PHP processes that perform malicious activity and detection and cleanup of files containing malware on your account.
Hawk Host already uses Litespeed, an event-driven, high-performance web server that maintains compatibility with Apache while delivering performance at or above Nginx. Litespeed offers LSCache, which, while it can be used for any software, they have created a WordPress specific plugin that we automatically enable on any WordPress installation that is not actively using caching, but their WordPress site is compatible. Our WordPress Management interface, however, offers one important feature that requires zero technical knowledge and can be enabled with a simple one-click. We offer the ability to switch to using a cron job to take over the execution of wp-cron.php and use a much more efficient method on your account.
Hawk Host provides WordPress hosting while maintaining traditional web hosting pricing. We are not charging you more just because you said you wish to host a WordPress website. We are not charging you per visitor, and your limits are determined by your allocated resources. We also offer the ability to upgrade your resources with just a few clicks, up to 8 CPU cores on a single web hosting account. The majority of our WordPress functionality is free; there are no additional fees. The only additional fees apply if you opt to purchase licenses for services that charge per website and prefer to purchase them through cPanel rather than directly from the software maker. However, we do not require you to purchase any additional software, and we believe our solution includes everything most WordPress websites need.
We’re going to continue to develop our own features to improve the WordPress experience. We’re also actively working with the creators of much of the software that powers our Hawk Host to introduce features that our users need. There are many exciting new features currently entering the beta stage, which the team is actively testing, and we hope to announce their availability before the end of the year. While certain features may benefit WordPress users, others are important to anyone running a website in 2026.
