We’re officially online in Singapore and accepting shared hosting orders! Our hardware was setup and online Wednesday afternoon , and shortly after our sysadmins went to work getting the server production ready. They worked their magic and I am beyond proud to announce we’ve opened our first international location!
It seems as if been talking about this forever, as we first reported the opening of a Singapore facility back in April. This past month has been the most anxious by far, with frequent updates and previews coming down the pipe from our provider as progress was made on the facility. The results are well worth the wait.
This facility, dubbed SNG01, has capacity for over 16,000 dedicated servers, backed by nearly 30MW of available power. To give you an idea of how much power that is, we’re going to make a shout out to Wolfram Alpha. Full details can be found at this link, but 30MW is more power than 3.8 times the worlds most powerful locomotive. It is also enough to power 5,000-10,000 American households. Keeping these dedicated servers online should be a breeze :). As is standard with all other facilities, Singapore provides N+1 redundancy with diesel generators, and N+2 redundancy with CRAH units and chillers. The carriers in the Singapore facility are equally as impressive. Transit providers include NTT, TATA, Level3 and Teliasonera, with peers including Equinix, HKIX, and JPNAP.
And for fun, here are some random facts about the Republic of Singapore. While these facts have nothing to do with shared hosting, or really anything at all, a little trivia never hurt!
Singapore is our 5th location, with number 6 in Amsterdam rapidly approaching. As always, orders can be placed right through our site at http://www.hawkhost.com/shared – just be sure to select Singapore on step 3 under the location option.
