Can I password protect directories?

Yes. You can password protect any directory on your hosting account through cPanel’s Directory Privacy tool.

1. Log in to cPanel and search for Directory Privacy (also listed under Security).

2. Select the website that contains the directory you want to protect.

3. Navigate to and select the folder you wish to password protect.

4. On the settings page:

   • Check Password protect this directory and enter a label for the protected directory
   • Click Save
   • Under Create User, enter a username and password for authorized access
   • Click Add or modify the authorized user

Visitors attempting to access the protected directory will be prompted for the username and password you configured.
