cPanel File Manager stuck detecting character encoding

The cPanel File Manager may get stuck displaying a message such as:

Detecting character encoding for “wp-config.php”

Solution

1. In cPanel File Manager, click Settings in the top-right corner.
2. Check Disable Character Encoding Verification Dialogs.
3. Click Save.

After making this change, you will need to manually select the appropriate character encoding (typically UTF-8) when editing files through the File Manager.
