How do I enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for cPanel?

cPanel supports two-factor authentication (2FA) as an extra layer of security. When enabled, you need both your password and a time-based code from your authenticator device to log in.

Supported authenticator apps

• Authy (recommended) — Android, iOS, Windows
• Google Authenticator — Android, iOS
• Duo Mobile — Android, iOS
• Microsoft Authenticator — Windows, Android, iOS

Enabling 2FA

1. Download and install a supported authenticator app on your phone or tablet.

2. Log in to cPanel and search for Two-Factor Authentication.

3. Click Set Up Two-Factor Authentication.

4. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (or enter the key manually).

5. Enter the 6-digit code displayed by your authenticator app and click Configure Two-Factor Authentication.

6. 2FA is now enabled and will be required each time you log in to cPanel.

Caution

If you lose your authenticator device, you will need to open a support ticket to have 2FA disabled after verifying account ownership.
