What server type should I choose for my SSL certificate?

If you’ve purchased a third-party SSL certificate (such as a Globalsign AlphaSSL), you’ll need to select a server type during the certificate issuance process.

When prompted for the Web Server Type, select:

cPanel/WHM

Issuing your certificate

Section titled “Issuing your certificate”

  1. Click the SSL configuration link provided in your certificate purchase email.

  2. Select cPanel/WHM as the Web Server Type.

  3. Paste the CSR (Certificate Signing Request) that you generated in cPanel. You can generate a CSR through cPanel’s SSL/TLS interface under Generate, view, or delete SSL certificate signing requests.

  4. Complete the remaining fields with your organization or site details.

  5. Once issued, install the certificate through cPanel’s SSL/TLS interface under Manage SSL sites.
