Default permissions on folders and PHP files

Hawk Host runs LiteSpeed Web Server, which executes PHP as the user. Files and folders should use the following permissions:

• Folders: 755 (drwxr-xr-x)
• Files: 644 (-rw-r—r—)

Caution

Even if software instructions tell you to set permissions to 777 or 666, do not do it. This is a security risk and is not needed in our environment where PHP runs as your user.

If you have accidentally changed permissions and your website no longer works, contact our support department to have the permissions corrected on your account.
