Installing Contao with Softaculous

Softaculous enables one-click installations of Contao through cPanel, which takes less than five minutes to complete.

How to Install Contao with Softaculous

  1. Log in to your hosting account’s cPanel and use the search bar to find “Softaculous” or navigate to the Softaculous Apps Installer under the Software section

  2. Click the Softaculous Apps Installer icon that appears. You will be redirected to the Softaculous interface.

  3. You can use the search bar to find “Contao”.

  4. You will be presented with your installation options, including your installation URL. Contao Install Options

    1. Set Protocol to https:// for a secure environment.
    2. Set domain to your desired domain.
    3. Set Install Directory to the path where you want to install Contao (e.g., contao). If you wish for Contao to load on your main domain, leave the directory blank.

  5. Under Admin Account and Contao Manager Account:

    1. Set the admin username, password, real name, and email. We recommend using a strong, unique password.
    2. Set the Contao Manager username and password.

  6. The installation should only take two to three minutes to complete. Once completed, you will see a page showing the message “Congratulations, the software was installed successfully”.
